Sponsor a Scholarship

You can help support a class of scholars by Sponsoring a Scholarship. Sponsorships involve a four-year commitment of $3000-$5000 per year for four years. Your sponsorship can be sole or shared, named or anonymous. Scholarships are awarded on an individual needs basis, and renewed annually based on student progress toward goals. Your scholarship will support one or more students.

Mentoring

  • Work one-on-one with a college student, serving as their primary contact for scholarship fund disbursement, as well as an advisor/friend, as needed
  • Attend one mandatory training session in first year, others optional

Monthly contact (email, phone) with student, 4-6 face-to-face meetings per year. More contact in first year and weeks prior to freshman year to help students set up budgets and identify other needs. A multi-year commitment.

Marketing/PR

  • Recommend and implement marketing activities
  • Help develop/update marketing materials and website
  • Write monthly stories for Town Crier and Mountain View Voice
  • Plan and implement annual picnic (June)

A few hours a month, can be done independently (don’t need to meet with a committee)

Scholar Recruitment, Selection, and Renewal Committee

  • Design and distribute scholarship applications and guidelines
  • Design and review scholar selection criteria and process
  • Select 15 new scholars annually
  • Review renewal applications
  • Review and recommend scholars retention services/activities

Committee most active from May – July

Mentor Recruitment, Selection and Training Committee

  • Design and distribute mentor applications and guidelines
  • Design and review mentor selection criteria and process
  • Select and train 15 new scholars annually (spring)
  • Offer 2 (?) training sessions per year (spring – with above, fall)
  • Review and recommend mentor programs/activities
